In France the Bel Air-Marquis d'Aligre is called the Rayas of Bordeaux. The owner Jean-Pierre Boyers first vintage was the legendary 1947, where he helped his father.
This bordeaux is in every way anachronistic, Monsieur Boyer makes Bordeaux like his father did. The influence of modern onology and Robert Parker have never reached this producer. The wines have no contact with wood, they are fermented and stored in cement vats, wood says Monsieur brings out vegetable components in the wine which he finds disturbing. In fact anyone looking for a fruit driven bordeaux will be disappointed with these wines. They need to opened at least twelth hours in advance, decanting or double decanting is necessary. When open the wine will improve over the course of five to seven days.
